Who are the Chechens

Chechen Literature and Culture:

This appears to be the most comprehensive history of Chechen literature in English on the web. However, it is somewhat partial and one-sided.

In this May 2004 interview Aslan Doukhaev, director of RFERL's North Caucasian service, speaks of what Chechens read.
Chechnya's Literary Pyre in The Chechen Times

Harsha Ram, professor of Russian Literature at UC Berkeley, writes about literary representations of Chechens and other North Caucasian peoples in Russian literature. This is a fascinating, well-written article. However, it deals mostly with Russian perceptions.
